There are many mansions in my father's house In my father's house Our shell might be for sale But not our soul Not our soul

Take a train To the North Don't look back A new track Hide a word In your mouth Make a friend Play a game Take a train Any train Cold blue face North Star Find a place with no name Sing a song without shame Follow the North Star in the night Follow the North Star A new life Take a train Any train Long track snake North Star Hide a word In your mouth Take a train Any train Find a place With no name In the night Follow the North Star In the night Follow the North Star A new life

Mbembe 05:32
Can you hear the drums? Do you see their shadow? A man made of wood Now reclaimed by the jungle Can you hear the drums? Once a tree then a drum Then a ghost eaten by rain Can you hear the drums? Rumors of rain I hear Rumors of rain I saw them in the dark Statues from the past A woman and a child A fierce warrior Once a tree then a drum Then a ghost eaten by rain Can you hear the drums? Rumors of rain I want to see them again Rumors of rain I want to hear them again Rumors of rain

Sticks and stones and old bones Dead bugs and empty nests He had too much around him But not enough inside How do you draw the song of a bird? How do you catch the wind? From his castle in the sky He heard the call of the wild That day He walked away Towards the tallest trees He walked without knowing Without getting lost Small under the big sky He kept his eyes closed When he came back He gave her a forest From his castle in the sky He heard the call of the wild Feathers and snow flakes Eggshells and empty nests He had so much around him He needed an empty space How do you draw the scent of a flower? How do you catch the wind? From his castle in the sky He heard the call of the wild

I'm walking in the city Always so new Already so old Up and down in the city The river flows The wind is cold In the city In the city Getting lost in the city Smiling at ghosts on St. Nick's Avenue I'm walking in the city You'll be on that hill boy Even if you miss the train I'm walking in the city The big city In the city In the city

I have never been to Berlin Or the Tokyo Bay Have you ever seen Brisbane? The streets of Mandalay? We'll go together one day No maps bags or hideaway Just our little red car On the lonely highway We would reinvent the wheel Stopping in every café Along the way I have never been to Bombay Or to Santa Fe Our rocket will go to the moon And to the Milky Way When I close my eyes I see the shimmering lights When I close my eyes I go places Play your best driving music Let's go to the Milky Way Let's go to the Milky Way When I close my eyes When I close my eyes I see the shimmering lights When I close my eyes I go places Every night A new home When we're on the road Every turn A new hope When we're on the road Every stop A new start When we're on the road Let's go to the Milky Way When we're on the road

Minniesland 02:51
Everything is falling into place Like a jigsaw puzzle Like bricks in a wall It just takes A little more work To put the atoms together To find the last bird Everything is coming together Like flour and water This perfect place I will know when you are close From Minniesland to Birdland
8.
What is the distance Between air and there? What's the intention Before you dare To wake the monster? There is no dead end Beyond the horizon Here be dragons Don't stir the muddy water Let's create a brand new color Like a ship in the river Do not lose your only anchor Don't stir the muddy water Let's vanish in a new color Don't stir the muddy water Here be dragons
9.
Out of thin air she appeared In the crisp morning light She did a little dance And she smiled She doesn't care If it's wrong or if it's right She thanks the light Wouldn't take no for an answer She doesn't like Dark rooms or closed doors People know her for her kindness And then she moves Wildly Gracefully She moves me When she moves in my eyes She moves in my heart As life itself As life itself
10.
Little waves 02:58
Little waves You come and go Never high Never low Little waves inside of me Take me back To the secret sea Little waves In the starry night Starfish are Your satellites Little waves Crash in the sand Your music will never end

First sign 04:16
Walking in my head Just the other day The haze, the heat, the wind Pulled me in Couldn't turn away How do you know the first sign Tell me all about the first time Do you remember the first sign No words said Picture in your head The first time Waiting for your words By the silent sea A shining beacon Like a blinding dream A new life, new time, new signs Were coming to me Hazy memories Sail away from me How do you know the first sign Tell me all about the first time Do you remember the first sign No words said Picture in your head The first time

Sweet memories Bittersweet melodies Take me back to the long Sundays Where nothing was solved But everything changed Kicking leaves In the pouring rain Grey sky Brown sugar pie Songs for the ones who left And the ones to come next Blue sky Brown sugar pie Your favorite song on the radio Blue sky Brown sugar pie Birds singing after the rain

about

Inspired by long walks in Harlem, Minniesland is Royo’s first solo album. A collection of impressionistic tone poems about lost or imaginary places, musicians and artists, it sings the magic of errance and small moments.

In 1842, the naturalist painter and ornithologist James Audubon built an estate for him and his wife, Minnie, in the woods of Upper Manhattan. After Audubon's impoverished death, the estate was dismantled and the house was torn down in 1933. Audubon’s Minniesland is just one of many invisible New York stories that holds the power to enchant.
